Triton® Opens Proprietary Intellectual Property “Triton Standard” to Public Domain

Triton Goal Is To Proliferate Added Functionality for Consumers

Long Beach, MS, July 20, 2004 — Processors and manufacturers have received an important boost to their plans for incorporating additional functionality onto the ATM platform. Triton, the leader in off-premise ATMs, announced today that it will open the Triton Standard interface specifications for availability to the many manufacturers emulating Triton ATMs.

“Our goal is to open Triton Standard in order to facilitate the incorporation of additional functionality on the ATM platform,” says Triton President, Brian Kett. “This decision reflects our continuing commitment to redefine and lead the market in ATM standards and capabilities.”

With customers’ needs changing, the demands for more transaction types and security capabilities have been increasing. As a result, manufacturers and processors have encountered numerous challenges in adequately serving customers for the future. The release of Triton Standard will allow manufacturers to add capabilities that support additional functionality, and processors will have fewer versions to support, leading to faster implementations. “It ultimately will allow our mutual customers to move forward with initiatives like Triple DES, EMV, remote key distribution, and other functions much more quickly and efficiently,” said Mark Vipond, president of software provider ACI Worldwide.

The Standard will be made available at no cost to users at www.tritonatm.com. There it can be downloaded and used as a reference document by anyone in the industry, including other manufacturers, who emulate Triton ATMs.

While today’s ATMs are a trusted portal for consumers to engage in financial transactions, most only offer cash withdrawals. However, with the release of Triton Standard, consumers will find that including value added services such as Triton Wavesâ expands the range of financial transactions on the ATM.

Triton Waves adds functionality to the ATM, which enables retailers to offer services such as check cashing, prepaid wireless top-ups, and person-to-person money transfers. Increasing the number of ATMs running Triton Standard will mean making valuable services more available to consumers, Kett explained. “We anticipate that consumers will eventually find an ATM offering these services as easily as they find one now that dispenses cash,” he said.

“For years Triton Standard has been recognized as the defacto standard for retail ATMs” stated Johann Dreyer, CEO of Mosaic Software. “By formally opening Triton Standard for use by other manufacturers, everyone benefits: Triton, manufacturers, processors and ultimately and most importantly the consumer.”
