New Orleans, LA, November 19, 2003 — A new wireless communications option for connecting ATMs was unveiled by Triton today at BAI’s Retail Delivery Conference 2003 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Kett noted that the advantages of wireless are no longer limited to mobile applications. With monthly costs less than dial-up, transaction times comparable to leased line, and real-time monitoring capabilities, he emphasizes wireless is now for everyone. “Plus with Triton’s wireless communication option, ATM owners do not have to pay an additional fee for the installation of a dedicated phone line,” he said.

A multitude of new ATM choices are becoming available for financial institutions that will dramatically reduce costs and enable them to place ATMs in lower transaction volume sites that do not justify the cost of a leased line ATM, according to Kett.

“Triton’s wireless option can be utilized with both our new FT5000 through-the-wall and RL5000 lobby Windows® Intel® XScale™ PC platform ATMs that will be on display in our BAI booth,” said Kett. “Smaller banks may like the wireless option onsite with transfer speeds reaching as high as 153k bps at a much lower cost than leased line, and all banks can significantly reduce costs at retail sites with an always-on wireless connection.”

Triton’s wireless option uses 1XRTT technology, which is a 100% digital data service provided by wireless carriers that use CDMA technology. It is available anywhere regular cell service on CDMA technology exists, including over 95% of the metropolitan U.S. According to Kett, 1X replaces CDPD (cellular digital packet data) radio modems, which the wireless carriers are retiring. The new wireless option will be available first on Triton’s FT5000 and RL5000.
