Are gift cards the Next Big Thing for ATMs? |
January 2012 | |
Currently when consumers think of making a gift card purchase, they imagine a supermarket or drugstore spinner rack (also known as a "card mall"). But one company intends to change the picture in consumers' minds, persuading them instead to think of their neighborhood ATM. According to Better ATM Services president and CEO Todd Nuttall, there couldn't be a more natural combination than ATMs and prepaid cards. .. . Read More
Triton and Better ATM Services announced an agreement |
December 2011 | |
Better ATM Services and Triton, a Long Beach, Miss.-based ATM manufacturer, recently announced an agreement in which the Mesa, Ariz.-based provider of prepaid card-dispensing technology for ATMs will enable new and existing Triton machines to dispense an array of prepaid products. In addition to withdrawing cash, ATM customers "will walk up and get their open- or closed-loop gift cards, transit passes, event passes—any type of prepaid [product] that can be put on a card will function because of the way the machine is enabled," Todd Nuttall, CEO, Better ATM Services, tells Paybefore. Nuttall describes Better ATM Services as providing "an integrating technology" to ATM manufacturers enabling the ATM operator to provide prepaid cards in a self-service environment. The technology can be built into new ATMs from most major manufacturers, but units already in service can be converted with a small hardware update and software updates, he says While preparing the machines to spit out plastic is relatively simple, Nuttall explains that getting the plastic itself right presented the greatest challenge initially, especially when it came to the open-loop side. .. . Triton Sales Up 70% Domestically, 50% Worldwide |
November 2011 | |
Triton announced today that year to date sales figures reflects sharp increases, as compared to 2010. Following the third quarter, worldwide sales are over 50% higher than at this time last year, with domestic sales up over 70%. CEO Daryl Cornell stated "We are pleased to report another quarter of strong sales growth. While much of the growth we are experiencing this year can be contributed to regulatory compliance mandates such as EMV in Canada and ADA in the U.S., we are also seeing incremental sales as a result of customers’ desire to work with an American company with strong software, customer service and support structures in place." "As customers are faced with looming compliance mandates, they are looking for a partner who can help them navigate the regulatory quagmire and provide them with multiple options. Triton’s ability to provide multi-branded upgrade kits, trade in opportunities on older equipment, and quality low-cost refurbished equipment, in addition to new ATMs, provides the flexibility that many of our customers want and need." added James Phillips, Vice President, Sales and Marketing. .. . TDLGATEWAY WIRELESS MODEM |
October 2011 | |
"Many other vendors offer what is known as a 'spoof box,' which basically plugs into the telephone jack on the back of the machine and converts the signal to wireless," said James Phillips, Triton's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "In those cases, for a dialup ATM, the machine still goes through the same slow steps that it would normally go through for a dialup transaction," he said. "You still have that 'handshake' delay that occurs." Triton's solution, however, is designed to work with its ATM software and ATM monitoring solution, Triton Connect, and is a completely wireless transaction from start to finish. The result is that the transaction speeds are faster than those accomplished with a grey market spoof box, and the higher data throughput speed allows for easier ad screen downloads, reporting and journal uploads via Triton Connect. And the cost savings can be significant compared to dial-up... . Read More
